Important Conclusions about OSU's School of Architecture

Architecture is the art and science of the design and construction of our built environment. It is rarely self-generated. Rather, it is a creative response to a stated or perceived human need. This design process combines both the subjectivity of art and the objectivity of science. The product, Architecture, integrates the spiritual and emotional values with the functional, technological and economic needs of a project. Architecture records the values and needs of society in physical form. When one thinks of the past, one cannot help but see or recall architectural images: pyramids in Egypt, Greek and Roman temples, Gothic cathedrals, Medieval castles, industrial cities, modern skyscrapers and the like.
