Arkansas; M. Arch., Oklahoma State University. Licensed architect in Arkansas, Missouri,
and Oklahoma. Private practice from 1983 to present as John Calvin Womack Architect.
Associate architect with Fay Jones and Associates, 1973-1983. Adjunct professor of
Architecture, University of Arkansas, 1987-1993. Member of the OSU faculty
since 1994. Author and illustrator of Once Upon a Highway: Route 66 in Oklahoma , 2006, by New Forums Press, Inc.. Best of Show Awards in 2005, 2006 and 2007 from the Oklahoma Watercolor Association and People's Choice Award, 2006. Recipient of AIA awards for "Communicating Architecture", "Architects as Artists"; American Society of Architectural Perspectives Award of Excellence 1997, ACSA/American Wood Council First place national award, "A Community Library", graduate project 1994; Fine Homebuilding Special Issue on Houses, 1988, Walker Residence; The Not So Big House, Walker Residence. Past President of AIA/NCOC and AIA/Northwest Arkansas. Editor of OSU School of Architecture Newsletter. Areas of Interest: Regional design and the integration of site, program, and building materials into an organic synthesis. Design Communications, methods. Freehand drawing and watercolor painting. History of world cultures and architecture with a particular focus on the architecture of U.S. Route 66 and the art and cultures of Japan and the American Indian.
