Brief Vita:  Bachelor of Architectural Engineering, Oklahoma State University, 1990;  Master of Architectural Engineering, Oklahoma State University, 1991;  Winner of the Halliburton Excellent Young Teacher Award, 2003;  Member of the Grand Prize winning faculty team of the 2004 NCARB  Prize for Creative Integration of Practice and Education in the Academy. 

Professor Phillips returned to his alma mater in the Fall of 2000 after practicing as a structural engineer for nine years.  

Areas of Interest:  All aspects of structural engineering analysis and design, as well as the integration of structural requirements into architectural design and the study of the effects that these structural requirements have on the design process. 

Classes Taught:  Undergraduate courses include engineering statics, structural analysis I, timber design, beginning steel design, foundation design, intermediate steel design, and the comprehensive design studio. Graduate courses include advanced steel design and acting as a graduate student professional project advisor.
