100th ANNIVERSARY PLANNING |
Dear Friends and Alumni: The next two years will be very special ones for the School of Architecture. Construction has begun on our new facility and will be completed late in the spring of 2009. Late this spring we will also be launching a comprehensive fundraising campaign and of course preparation is underway for our 100th anniversary celebration in 2009. As we prepare for these important events, we need your help on several topics. First, mark September 24-26, 2009 on your calendars. These days are tentatively slated as the dates for our 100th Anniversary celebration and the Donald W. Reynolds School of Architecture Building dedication. The details of this event are still being developed and in fact if you have suggestions for aspects of the event, let me know. As part of the celebration of 100 years of architectural education at OSU we are planning a publication. I would like for many of you to participate in aspects of this project. A draft outline of the publication might be as follows:
This publication will be a terrific way to celebrate our heritage, but in order for it to come about – we need your help. We need scanned images of photographs from your personal collections, your willingness to write stories or at least just put together some notes that we can use to write the story about special events or people. Also help us fill in the gaps on the various lists listed above by going to the links and seeing if you have information that we don't currently have in our records. This is an exciting project, but a daunting one. It can only happen with your help. We will assume that if you send us photos that we have permission to publish them and any stories, thoughts, or memories that you share can be used and published as well. We might need to edit your stories and we will also assume that this is OK. Please also send us jpeg images of your best school work or Europe sketches. Our school archives are fairly good back to about 1980 – but before then, very spotty. We do NOT have a good collection of Europe sketches. Mark your calendars, and get your memory cells set on high. You can send me information by mail or email (randy.seitsinger@okstate.edu). When you scan photos, please send them in jpeg format at a 200 dpi or higher resolution. If you need us to help with the scanning of photos or slides, let me know and we can help. Sincerely,
