Dear Friend: After considerable deliberation, we have decided to postpone the School of Architecture's 100th Anniversary Celebration, probably until the spring semester. This was not an easy decision and was made for several reasons. First, while we are still planning on moving into the new building before the start of the fall semester, it might be just before the semester begins before we can get into the building. We had counted on having part of the summer to help us prepare both for the start of the school year in our new building and for setting up exhibits and preparing the building for the 100th celebration in September. Second, we want to align the 100th anniversary celebration with the dedication of our new facility. The Donald W. Reynolds Foundation has informed us that they have developed a conflict of schedule with the September 24-26 time period and have asked us to pick another date for the building dedication. Third, we will be having an ABET accreditation visit for the Architectural Engineering program later in the fall and with the shortened time period for move-in and preparation for the 100th, we feel that moving the celebration will give us the time we need to install a complete and high quality exhibit for this important event. We are in the process of selecting a new date for the celebration and we will be sending out a postcard to all of our alums as soon as the details are developed. I apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused you. If you have already made airline reservations and this change will cost you a fee, contact me and we will discuss the possibility of waiving part or all of your registration fee. I know many of you were planning on being here this fall and I sincerely hope that you can adjust your plans to a later date. I mentioned before, this was not an easy decision and was made following the strong recommendation of the Professional Advisory Committee to consider the change. We will also adjust the website information as soon as it is developed. Sincerely, Randy Seitsinger, AIA
